New Book Aims to Tell "The Simple Truth About Apple"


Author Ken Segall, an advertising executive who worked with Steve Jobs for over 12 years both at NeXT and Apple, is coming out with a new book this April entitled “Insanely Simple: The Obsession That Drives Apple’s Success.”

Touted as “a fascinating read for anyone curious about life in Steve Jobs’s world,” the book systematically outlines the steps Steve Jobs took to take Apple from almost bankrupt to the most valuable company on the face of the Earth.

From the author’s blog: “To Steve Jobs, Simplicity was a religion. He built a company based on its principles, in which the complexities of traditional business were simply not tolerated. Simplicity was also his most powerful weapon—a means of humbling category leaders once thought to be invincible.”

“Insanely Simple is a fascinating read for anyone curious about life in Steve Jobs’s world. It’s a must-read for anyone who wishes to leverage the power of Simplicity to propel their own organization  — or their own career.”

The book delves deep into ten elements of Simplicity that have driven Apple’s success over the years, and continue to do so under Tim Cook’s leadership today.

It promises to illustrate each of these elements “with previously untold stories,” as well as to take you “inside Steve Jobs’s world to show you how he enforced the rules of Simplicity — sometimes with humor, sometimes with brutality — but always with amazing success.”

Segall is credited for starting the i-frenzy for Apple’s now ubiquitous products. The man is also directly responsible for Apple’s famous Think Different campaign.

Not only does Segall have valuable inside knowledge of how Apple works with a clear focus on Steve Jobs’ modus operandi, he also has good terms of comparison:

“Having also served tours of duty with Dell and Intel, Ken is uniquely qualified to point out the the stark contrasts between the practices of Apple and other iconic technology companies,” reads the blog.

Insanely Simple is already available for pre-order at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, IndieBound, and Apple’s very own iBookstore. Segall promises to have the book finished by April 26th.
